Michael "Mike" James Barnes Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Michael James “Mike” Barnes, age 76 of Clayton, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2022. He was a former Eagle Scout and participated in the Junior ROTC program in high school, later serving our country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Navy where he was a Seabee. Mike had worked for many years for Star City Hardware and Emery Worldwide and was a former volunteer E.M.T. with Trotwood Fire & Rescue. He was an active member of Precious Blood Catholic Church. Mike enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, playing cards, watching Western shows and having a cold beer. He is survived by his wife of 51 years: Rita (Monnig) Barnes, children: Bob (Kelly) Barnes of Huber Heights, Jennifer (David) Comer of Englewood, David Barnes of Clayton, Amy (Tom) Meyers of North Carolina, Joe (Lori) Barnes of Clayton, Susan (Dennie) Kahlig of Union, Katie (Rob) Cottrell of Clayton, grandchildren: Matt, Allie, Dakota, J.T., Carson, Paisley, Abby, Annika, Teegan, Noah, Evie, Lily, K.J., Jonah, Anna, Charlie, Natalie, Scarlet, Brooke, great-grandson: Henry, brother: David (Wilma) Barnes of Brookville, sister: Mary (Dennis Bogott) Hile of Colorado, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Byron “Pete” and Marie (King) Barnes and brother-in-law: Jim Hile. The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Miami Valley Hospital Critical Care Unit and Ohio’s Hospice of Dayton for the care given to Mike. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, July 1, 2022 at Precious Blood Catholic Church (4961 Salem Ave.) with Father Tim Knepper, C.PP.S. as celebrant. Interment will follow the Mass at Royal Oak Memorial Gardens in Brookville. The family will receive friends on Thursday, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Kindred Funeral Home (400 Union Blvd., Englewood).
